Snippets from the PCC Meeting – 15th April 2025 and Annual Meeting

Among the matters discussed at the PCC meeting on April 15 were:

Dementia Friendly Church

Our annual Dementia Friendly Church certificate is due for renewal. As part of that process we will need to identify three actions which we will undertake in the next year.

In the last year we held two events: the Dementia Friendly Church training session in the Village Hall in October and the Pattingham Past and Present event in church in March. Both were very well attended and there was very positive feedback afterwards. The other action was to write the prayer which is available on prayer cards at the back of the church and on the church website here.

Two of the actions for the coming year will be a Songs of Praise service on June 1, which will include favourite hymns of those we know who are living with dementia and a Memory Walk.

Concerts and other events

We are planning to hold two concerts in church this year. The Much Wenlock Male Voice choir will be performing Singing for Pleasure on Saturday, July 12 and details are here. Then on Saturday, September 27, during the Scarecrow Festival, the Staffordshire Brass Band will be performing. More details of that will be available nearer the time.

Planning for the Fete – on Saturday, July 5 – and the Scarecrow Festival – on the weekend of September 26-28 is continuing.

Annual meeting

The Annual meeting took place after the morning service on May 11 and 38 parishioners attended. Clive Pendrell and Dorothy Steel were re-elected churchwardens. Those members of the PCC who had reached the end of their term of office were re-elected and there were two volunteers to join, Barbara Dias and Steve Jones, so the PCC now has 13 members. There are still vacancies so if anyone else is considering joining the PCC please speak to one of us.

In addition to the formal annual report and accounts a number of other reports were presented, which are still available on the church website. They are well worth reading as they contain a wealth of information about a wide range of activities of the church and its members.

Philip Sims gave a presentation on the plans for the north aisle which have been submitted to the diocesan advisory committee for advice. He explained what was planned and showed images produced by the architect which showed what it would look like. Those are now on the church website here.
