Snippets from the PCC Meeting – 15th August 2023
The PCC meeting on 15th August was held in church. Among the matters discussed were:
Holiday Club and Go Ape adventure day
The Holiday Club took place on August 7 and 8 at Kingswood. The children enjoyed a fun-filled couple of days and an evaluation to elicit views of parents is being undertaken.
The planned Go Ape Adventure Day in September had to be cancelled due to low numbers with only eight bookings which made the trip unviable. Research is to be undertaken to establish why there was not greater interest and to learn for the future.
Pattingham Shower Singers
This initiative by the Outreach and Growth Informal Working Group has been well received. After the first three sessions in July it took a break during August and was due to resume in September.
There is no charge to attend but those attending can make donations to The Well by dropping them into the wishing well at the back of the church – although there is not an expectation of any donation.
Risk assessments
Tracey Williams, our Safeguarding Officer, has reviewed the risk assessments in relation to activities with children and young people. We are in the process of reviewing various risk assessments in relation to health and safety.
Organist
Greg Lewin, our organist, was due to retire at the end of August. We discussed how to mark the occasion and express our thanks for all he has done in the last five years. The churchwardens have started the process of recruiting a new organist.
PCC members
Members of the PCC are: Philip Sims (Chairman), Tony Ainsworth, Iain Coleman, Milly Colin-Stokes, Geoffrey Dann, Anna Davies, Henry Ibberson, Clive Pendrell, Alan Smith, Dorothy Steel and Tracey Williams.
