Snippets from the PCC Meeting – 18th July 2023

The PCC meeting on 18th July was held in church. Among the matters discussed were:

Services in December

Although it may seem a long way away we have started to plan the pattern of services in December so that we all know what is happening and when.

The provisional pattern which has been identified, based on previous years, is:

  • Sunday 10th December:
    • At 10am there will be the usual Family Communion
    • At 4pm there will be the Christingle Service
  • Sunday 17th December:
    • At 10am there will be the Youth Service, followed by Communion
    • At 6.30pm it will be the Service of Nine Lessons and Carols
  • Sunday 24th December:
    • At 10am will be the usual Family Communion service
    • At 4pm there will be the Crib Service
    • At 11.30 pm there will be the Midnight Communion Service
  • Monday 25th December:
    • At 10am there will be the Christmas Morning Communion Service.

Some of these are still subject to confirmation, particularly the Communion Services on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day as they will depend on a priest being available.

Sunday School – Kidz Club

There was discussion about the future of Sunday School, which has in the past been held during the service on the second Sunday of the month but has not in recent times had many children attending.

We decided that for a period of three months, starting in September, we should try another approach, which might be more attractive to some children.

On the second Sunday of the month there will be Kidz Club, which will be held in The Loft in the afternoon from 4pm to 5 pm. It will be open to children aged 5 to 11 and we hope that some of those who took part in the Holiday Club will wish to attend.

The PCC will review its success in December and decide how to proceed next year.
