Snippets from the PCC meeting – 28th February 2017
Among the items discussed at the recent PCC meeting were:-
CCTV has been installed at church by SGS Systems Ltd. It is now operational and the church is open during daylight hours. The footage from the CCTV cameras will not be reviewed unless there is a security incident.
Ecclesiastical Insurance has agreed to cover the cost of replacement monitors for the AV system.
A new outdoor PA system has been purchased and will be in use for the fete, on Saturday 1st July.
Janet Snape sells a really nice selection of greetings cards in church, and her sales have generated enough income to buy another folding table for church use. Thank you Janet!
Finance – Graham Tritton reported that income has dropped in the period October 2016 to February 2017 compared with the same period in previous years. One very obvious reason for this – but not the only one – is that attendance has dropped due to lack of heating. Even though the main services have been moved to other locations, this was particularly noticeable in February. Loss of income over January and February was approximately £1000.
On a brighter note, attendance at the Sunday evening service in the upstairs room at the Pigot Arms has held up very well!
There was some storm damage in March, the most serious of which was to a willow tree in the church yard. The surface vegetation was cleared quickly, the roots will be removed and repairs to paving stones will be carried out.
Unfortunately there is no good news to tell you regarding the heating system. Our application for a faculty was delivered in early February, was deemed acceptable for consideration and was on the agenda to be considered at a meeting of the DAC on 8th March. However, we have since then received an email querying the proposed work for pipes and flues in the north aisle. The DAC were due to make a site visit on 21st March. The PCC would like to express our appreciation and thanks to Dave Challinor, who has worked tirelessly on this matter.
