Snippets from the PCC Meeting – 12th January 2021

The PCC’s meeting on 12th January was again held over Zoom.

Worship

Public worship in St Chad’s has been suspended since the beginning of the year. We need to play our part in reducing the risk of transmission of the coronavirus in the present situation. The PCC has formally agreed to suspend public worship until the end of March, although the position will be reviewed at the next meeting. If the situation does improve significantly there is a possibility that we will be able to resume public worship earlier in March but that seems unlikely at the moment.

Worship on the Web continues online and the services have a good following. We are very grateful for all the work put in by all those involved in putting those services together.

Interregnum

This time last year we were starting to review the Mission Action Plan for 2020. Most of that went by the board because of the pandemic. We are now starting to plan for 2021 and beyond. That will include the resumption of normal life after the restrictions caused by the pandemic and also the interregnum after Maureen retires.

Finance

The accounts for 2020 are now being finalized. It looks as though the deficit for the year will be about £9,000. This is significantly less than the £25,000 or so that we had thought possible earlier in the year.

We have lost income from fund-raising events and wedding fees. Collections at services are also down but regular planned giving, although it is down, has held up very well. It appears that a number of those who used the yellow envelope scheme have changed to bank standing order or the Giving Direct scheme.

Sale of Pews

The PCC has decided to invite sealed bids for the nine non fixed pews which are to be sold. See this page on the website.
