Snippets from the PCC Meeting – 12th October 2021

The PCC’s meeting on 12th October was held in church. Among the items discussed were:

Survey

A survey was conducted in May with a questionnaire being made available through the local schools, Facebook and ChadNet. 41 responses were received and the Outreach and Growth Informal Working Group has now analysed those responses and provided a report to the PCC meeting. The report is available on the church website (here).

From the various responses it is clear that there are a number of needs in our community both for young people and those who are older.

The PCC has decided to investigate the possibility of having a community worker to support all ages in our community.

Christmas card

There will be a Christmas Card from the church again this year which will be delivered to all homes in the parish. That card will have details of the services in December, including the special to Christmas. The PCC is grateful to the dedicated team of volunteers who deliver these cards twice a year (there is also a card at Easter).

Restrictions in church

The PCC has made further adjustments to the arrangements which have been adopted in church as a result of the pandemic. The outside doors will no longer be kept open during services and books will no longer need to be quarantined for a week before they are used again.

Churchyard trees

After further advice from Craig Watkins of Morfe Valley Arboricultural we have that the silver maple in the churchyard should not be felled. Instead work will be done which will reduce the risk of branches breaking

It is hoped that with this work and regular monitoring it should be possible to delay felling the tree for a few more years.

Parish News magazine

The price of the Parish News will increase from February (when the subscriptions are due) to 70 pence per issue or £8 a year.
