‘Churchwardens’ Chat’
We are now in an interregnum following the retirement of the Vicar and so the monthly letter for the Parish News is written by the Churchwardens
December 2024
Joy to the world the Lord has come … Psalm 98
During our Follow the Star event (December 13-15), the church will be adorned with the most wonderful array of stars and the event will end with the Christingle service.
We are delighted that the new Bishop of Wolverhampton, the Rt Rev Dr Tim Wambunya, ff will attend and will deliver a blessing!
As we continue our busy Advent preparations, we take time away from the celebrations to pray for all who live in countries where conflict and war disrupts their lives.
We especially pray for Ukraine as the war continues and huge numbers of lives are being lost, families torn apart, communities destroyed and people maimed with physical and psychological scars which will remain forever with them.
At St Chad’s, we look forward to the children and staff from St Chad’s school visiting us on Monday, December 16 to take part in ‘Experience Christmas’ when the youngsters will be involved in experiencing the Christmas Story.
Please do join us at our services and enjoy the beautiful flowers in our church; and don’t be alone, get in touch if you or someone you know needs a little company.
Please take note our Christmas Day service will begin at 11 am this year. If transport is a problem, let us know and we can organise a lift or arrange for home Holy Communion.
There is always a space for you at the monthly Who’s for Lunch? (book with Philip or Debbie Sims), although this will not be held during December. Then there is our weekly Shower Singers on Wednesday evenings.
All details of events and happenings are in the magazine, on the church website and in the weekly ChadNet.
Finally, our annual suggestions box is available has been available throughout November at the back of church, so we hope you have shared your ideas and comments on the year with us.
God Bless, we wish you all a peaceful Christmas.
Clive Pendrell and Dorothy Steel,
Churchwardens
