‘Churchwardens’ Chat’
We are now in an interregnum following the retirement of the Vicar and so the monthly letter for the Parish News is written by the Churchwardens
November 2024
Longing for light, we wait in darkness, longing for truth we turn to you …Bernadette Farrell
Clive and I attended the Dementia Information sharing event and were delighted to see so many people there. We take this opportunity to thank Sarah Thorpe for leading the event, Tracey Williams for organising and Mike Coope for planning and sorting all the IT. We are especially grateful to all who provided cake! We are committed to continuing our journey developing our Dementia Friendly Church, if you have any questions or queries do get in touch with us or with Tracey Williams.
Are you ready to start filling your diary with our forthcoming events? We have dates for our Christingle service (December 15) and our traditional Nine Lessons and Carols service (December 22).
Our Follow the Star event is from December 13 to December 15, when the church will be adorned with the most wonderful array of stars – so be sure to pop in and see for yourself. Entry is free and visitors are asked to make a donation if they are able. Tickets for the evening presentation, at 7:30pm on December 13, are available to buy now and include mulled wine and mince pies. The evening is called Follow the Star – what was The Star? And will be given by Doug Bickley. Please do join us, don’t be alone, get in touch if you or someone you know needs a little company. If transport is a problem, let us know and we can arrange a lift.
In addition, we can always arrange home Holy Communion and there is always a space for you at the monthly ‘Who’s for Lunch’ or at the weekly Shower Singers. All details in the magazine, on the church website and in the weekly ChadNet.
As the first Sunday of Advent approaches – December 1 – we ask you to spend a few moments in the busy preparations for Christmas, to remember all who rely on The Well foodbank, by putting a tin or packet in the box at the back of church. A bar of chocolate or a packet of chocolate biscuits would be appreciated, as well as the usual foodstuffs and toiletries. Let’s make Christmas special for others as well as for ourselves!
Finally, our annual suggestions survey is available (November 1-30) at the back of church, so please complete a survey sheet sharing your ideas and comments on the year with us.
God Bless,
Clive Pendrell and Dorothy Steel,
Churchwardens
