‘Churchwardens’ Chat’

We are now in an interregnum following the retirement of the Vicar and so the monthly letter for the Parish News is written by the Churchwardens

February 2022

As February approaches, and winter advances towards spring, we are looking forward to a little more daylight and we are working with you to put more ‘Christian’ light and joy into all we do, to put into practice our mission statement:

“Following Christ in the footsteps of St Chad, by living out our faith; taking the church to the community and growing the church”.

We would love to hear from you. Share your thoughts with us by having a word after a service, or, if you have experienced any of our services, do please let us have your feedback by email.

Let us know what you feel works well or if you have any other suggestions to make, our email addresses are:

We have heard from a number of people who have commented positively about our vision to be an inclusive welcoming Church and we know that this is something a new Vicar would want to embrace and be part of. We encourage you to come to church and experience for yourself what we have to offer through faith and worship.

We have made progress gaining permissions to allow isolating members of our congregation to receive Holy Communion at home and we will update you as soon as we can, detailing how to put your name forward to receive at home.

We are hoping to hold outdoor village events this year, so why not email us on the addresses given above to let us know your favourites or to share any new ideas you may have and whether you would be willing to help us by being a volunteer.

Our ‘Shaping for Mission’ feedback from Lichfield Diocese encourages us to continue to work closely with other churches in our Deanery, details of any events will be shared in the magazine, on ChadNet and in church notices at each service.

We are already thinking about Lent and our preparation for Easter; what about you: do you usually try to attend a Lent group? Now is the time to start thinking and praying about this and look out on ChadNet or listen to the notices in Church and we will let you know what our plans are.

We will mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in a number of exciting ways which you will hear more about soon. We will also fulfill a commitment to plant more trees, which will fit in with our eco-church journey to celebrate and protect God’s creation.

As winter clings on for the next few weeks, we pray for all who may be lonely or in poor health – you are not forgotten, do contact us if we can help you in any way, or if someone you know is in need of help.

God Bless,

Clive Pendrell and Dorothy Steel
