‘Churchwardens’ Chat’

We are now in an interregnum following the retirement of the Vicar and so the monthly letter for the Parish News is written by the Churchwardens

With apologies to Robert Burns and all Scottish people for the translation, I recall the words “Oh what some power the gift to give us, to see ourselves as others see us . . . ”

We are trying very hard to ‘see ourselves as you see us’ and last month we asked you to share with us your comments, ideas and thoughts; many thanks to all who have offered feedback.

We are still very happy to hear from you at any time because it is important we get an insight into your thoughts and then, from your feedback we know what we are doing right and need to do more of and what you feel isn’t working and we need to change.

Archdeacon Julian visited us on January 30 and we met with him again on February 19 and he was very encouraging in saying how everyone struggles during an interregnum and we are doing really well at St. Chad’s to keep positive and carry on.

For Lent Group this year we are sharing with Perton — and there is an evening or a daytime option. It is called Walking in Love and Faith and Holiness today.

It will address modern problems as all around us we see changing understandings of human identity, changing patterns in relationships and families, changing sexual attitudes and activity. What does it mean for followers of Jesus to walk in love, faith and holiness today?

The Course for Lent will be held on Tuesdays from 11am to 12.30pm, starting on 15th March, with the alternative of Thursday evenings from 7.30pm to 9pm, starting on 17th March.

The venue is the Church At Perton and if you would like to attend, contact the Rev Julia Cody on 750232 or at to confirm which group you would like to join.

If you need transport, contact us and we will do our very best to help arrange some for you.

Planning, preparation and sharing with other organisations around the village has commenced so we can all make sure our whole community can enjoy a wonderful weekend of celebration for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June.

February has been quite a sad month with so many people poorly and many still feeling isolated and lonely despite many Covid restrictions lifting. We know that many of you are worried about a loved one or have lost someone and the quiet moments of silence are very painful to bear. We pray for you all, that you will find comfort and strength.

“Following Christ in the footsteps of St Chad, by living out our faith; taking the church to the community and growing the church”.

God Bless you and take care.
