‘Churchwardens’ Chat’

We are now in an interregnum following the retirement of the Vicar and so the monthly letter for the Parish News is written by the Churchwardens

Be still for the presence of the Lord, the Holy One is here . . . David Evans 1986

We all have times when we really need to know Our Lord is present, why not join us in church to explore more.

We have services full of joy, such as the monthly service presented by our Youth Group; we have beautiful Evensong or Iona-style evening worship; and we have mid-week Holy Communion on Wednesday mornings at 10am.

If you appreciate calm quiet prayer, come along on Tuesday evenings at 6pm for 15 minutes of prayer, when we think of those suffering from the on-going war in Ukraine and for all in conflict zones around the world.

We have been busy planning for our Remembrance Day Service which will be the last service the Rev James Makepeace takes before he leaves the area to move south. He has been our priest, our neighbour and a dear friend to St. Chad’s over many years. He has been a support and comforter during difficult times – including our current Interregnum – and a joy to hear preach.

James has gifted us some beautiful vestments which we will use and remember him with love, giving thanks for all he is and all he has done for us, Do please join us to wish him well at his last service.

If you or anyone known to you would like to receive Home Communion please get in touch and we shall be pleased to arrange it.

As a member of Interfaith Wolverhampton and a dementia friendly church we will be represented at the annual interfaith conference being held this year on Saturday November 18, exploring ‘faith and dementia’. If you would like to learn more about Wolverhampton Interfaith and how much we as Christians have in common with those from other faiths, please contact Jill Parker who will be happy to talk with you.

If you or a loved one is affected by dementia, please do speak to Tracey Williams or to Dorothy Steel. They will be able to’listen to you and your story and signpost you to a range of support options and resources.

Our annual suggestion box is on the table at the back of the church; please do fill in a form and let us know how you think we have been doing and let us have your ideas or suggestions for improvement. The box will be available from November 1 to December 1, so now is the time to let us know what you think! Thank you!
