Snippets from the PCC Meeting – 25th October 2022

The PCC’s meeting on 25th October was held in church. Among the items discussed were:

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

We are grateful to Lisa Ainsworth for again offering to lead the Crib Service at 4 pm on Christmas Eve. This popular service gives families an opportunity to start Christmas with the building of the crib in church.

Bishop Clive, the Bishop of Wolverhampton, will be leading our “Midnight” Communion Service at 11.30pm on Christmas Eve. For those who are able to attend this can be a very moving service as Christmas Day begins.

The Christmas Morning Service on Christmas Day at 10am will be family worship with no Holy Communion.

The only opportunity to receive Communion in Pattingham this Christmas will be at the “midnight” service. The churchwardens have made efforts to find a priest to take a Communion Service on Christmas morning or even to find a Reader who could lead Communion by Extension but no one is available.

Safeguarding Officer

The PCC has formally appointed Tracey Williams as parish safeguarding officer. She takes over from Gena Richards, who has done the job since 2014, when she took over from Jeremy Riches.

It is important that we all follow the appropriate safeguarding requirements and procedures to ensure that we do our best to protect both children and vulnerable adults from those rare individuals who would do them harm if given the opportunity. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.

Administration of Churchyard

Since 2015 Jeremy Riches had responsibility for the administration of memorials in the churchyard. He was the point of contact for applications for headstones and other memorials and undertook the administrative work connected with these. Following Jeremy’s death, Gena Richards has taken over this work.
