View from the Pews

The Dandelion
by Pattingham Anonymous
The Dandelion’s sheen of gold
Is just a nasty weed, I’m told.
It makes me very sad to know
That it’s beset by many a foe!
“Just rubbish to be cast away
On an old compost heap” they say.
But wait! It has a golden dress
worthy of feeling one’s caress!
It is not welcome in the house,
bravely it shows itself without.
Then let it in some corner stay
in its own company’s bright array.
I know it’s not among the best
So let it find a place to rest –
it gives some children such delight.
Then let it live – it has the right.
One day its gold will turn to white
and then for it will come the night.
But first allow child’s chubby hand
to pluck it gently from the land.
To them in their imagination
to know the time is their intention.
And so they blow – with sweet delight
they count the time – it’s never right!
Realising not the seeds they’ve blown
will fall on soil somewhere unknown.
And when the winter months are o’er,
they’ll grow again just as before.
For some, their life on earth has sped,
just like ourselves, when all is said.
But those who truly seek the Lord,
new life for them begins.
And earthly things will be no more,
far greater joys doth lie before.
To be with Jesus, face to face,
Knowing his love and saved by grace.

Dementia Friendly Church
Weekly Prayer

Dear Lord
You looked down on me, chose me, and singled me out,
as I lived as a good Christian and without any doubts.
Please help people to understand, dementia is not just for the old,
it has no parameters and preys totally uncontrolled.
Help people to not judge me, avoid me, for not remembering their name, forgetting words, losing my way, it`s all part of dementia`s game.
Lord, help me be brave, to fight, continue to survive.
With my friend`s support, my family spurring me to strive.
Please be by their side and hold their hands tight,
as they walk dementia with me, with all of their might.
Amen
