ChadNet - the eBulletin of St Chad's Church, Pattingham
        with Patshull

Welcome to this week’s edition of ChadNet – the eBulletin of St Chad’s Church, Pattingham with Patshull.

Remember that the clocks go back this weekend.

In this week’s ChadNet:

The restrictions in church have been further relaxed. The doors are no longer kept open during the services.

Face coverings not only protect the wearer but also other people. It is up to each individual to decide whether or not they should wear a face covering in church.

So that those who wish to ensure that they can maintain social distance feel comfortable social distancing must be maintained in the pews by the wall in the South Aisle.

Do not attend church if you have any covid symptoms or are meant to be isolating.

View from the Pews

Mike Stirk

Sometimes, on my way to the County Lane, usually with the intention of accessing the various major roads such as the A41 and M54, I pull in to allow an oncoming car on the narrow road on the top of Nurton Hill to pass by. When the car has gone by I occasionally pause for a few seconds to take in that most wonderful view from the highest point in our lovely parish. Here the ground undulates quite steeply downhill some two hundred feet to our lovely village surrounded by carefully tended farm land from all sides, interspersed with small blocks of mature woodland.

View from Nurton Hill

The tall spire of our lovely church dominates the village from this view and I often think what wonderful foresight the Earl of Dartmouth had of financing the addition of this beautifully shaped spire on top of the existing building some hundred years or more ago. As the ground falls away again below the church glimpses of the spire can be seen all the way down to the county boundary and all the way up to Kingslow.

I don’t think there are many better aspects of our parish than this view from Nurton with the  church dominating the horizon and sometimes the bells pealing to summon us to worship can be distinctively heard when a strong south west wind prevails.

It reminds me that I must thank our Lord God for the wonderful parish and its people that my wife and I live in by going  a little more often to that sacred place of worship – St Chad’s – our  delightful and most welcoming church.
