The restrictions in church have been further relaxed. The doors are no longer kept open during the services.
Face coverings not only protect the wearer but also other people. It is up to each individual to decide whether or not they should wear a face covering in church.
So that those who wish to ensure that they can maintain social distance feel comfortable social distancing must be maintained in the pews by the wall in the South Aisle.
Do not attend church if you have any covid symptoms or are meant to be isolating.
View from the Pews

“It is our sacred duty to protect the planet, as well as our neighbours around the world who are on the front line of climate change.” Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury.
We all worry about the future for our children and grandchildren; it’s only natural. How will they cope when they have to fend for themselves, and what kind of a world are we leaving for them to live in?
This week, it is especially in our focus with the climate change conference in Glasgow. What will be the outcome? Will our leaders come to an agreement to ward off the inexorable rise in temperature and its disastrous consequences? I suppose we’ll all know in a week’s time.
When we see countries such as China, Russia and India refusing to accept the urgency of global warming, it would be very easy to shrug our shoulders and ask ourselves, “What’s the point of us turning down the heating or using fewer polythene bags?” Can our efforts make any difference at all?
This question was asked by the young people in our recent Youth Service, and they came up with a comprehensive list of suggestions. What can we do? Yes, in Pattingham; in our own homes. The congregation was asked for their ideas too and we discussed the issues arising. What do you reckon came top of the list? The top five were:
- Reduce meat consumption,
- Reduce plastic waste,
- Recycle clothes and household items,
- Reduce energy usage at home, and
- Buy local produce and goods.
As world leaders make long-term plans, and target dates are offered: 2050, 2070, etc., we realise that we are not going to be here to see if they succeed. Our children will, and our grandchildren too, and it seems to us that it is absolutely vital that we all act now – we do turn down the heating, we do reduce waste and we do recycle.
In the words of that familiar hymn, we’ll all do our bit: “You in your small corner, and I in mine.”
And, … do you know what? We do think that we can make a difference.
