Snippets from the PCC meeting – 11th June 2018

Youth Service
The Youth Service, which is held at 6.30 pm on the second Sunday of each month, celebrated its 30th Anniversary in June.

It is a service which is led by young people but is for everyone. It is a less traditional form of service and those who come, young and old, enjoy it and take something from it.

One of the objectives which the PCC included in its Mission Action Plan for this year was to encourage young people to participate in the governance and development of St. Chad’s.

The youth group who leads the Youth Service has been asked to make suggestions and they have come up with a number of good ideas. Those include how to promote what we already do and also finding out what might encourage young people to get involved.

It is noticeable that the number of families and those adults in their 20s and 30s who attend church is less than it used to be years ago. The PCC discussed why this might be and what we could do to encourage more people to come to church. There are a number of reasons why this might be and we need to discover what we need to do to encourage more people to join us in church.

To this end, We are looking at introducing some different forms of worship to supplement what we already do.

St Chad’s Church.
The plans for the reordering of the Lady Chapel have been sent to the Diocesan Advisory Committee. If they approve them the application will then go to the Diocesan Chancellor for his decision.

We are now looking at how we can improve the North Aisle and the area around the West Door. At our next meeting we will spend some time considering the options and some of the details. We will then be able to share our ideas with the church community before finalising the plans.
