‘Churchwardens’ Chat’

We are now in an interregnum following the retirement of the Vicar and so the monthly letter for the Parish News is written by the Churchwardens

Jesus Christ is Risen Today, Alleluia!

Happy Easter!

It is suggested this hymn has a long history dating back to the 14th century and thought to be based upon Matthew 28:6.

It was written in Latin, Surrexit Christus Hodie but the author is unknown. Translated into English in 1708 it was later amended, with further verses added by Charles Wesley in 1740.
How wonderful that all these years later we sing and celebrate Our Lord’s Resurrection with these same words!

We have so much fun planned for the spring and summer and it begins now in April! Do you own a pet? is it small enough to bring to church? if the answer is yes, would you like to bring your pet to church to a very special Pet Service? We shall give thanks for all the pets who bring us joy and teach us so much about unconditional love! Come to church at 10am on Sunday 7th April for a short service of thanks.

Why not also join us on our Rogation Sunday walk, on Sunday 5th May – bring the dog and enjoy a lovely walk from Pattingham Church to St. Mary’s Church, Patshull. If this walk is too far, then do come in your car or contact us if you need a lift. Refreshments will be served on arrival before a short service in the lovely St. Mary’s church.

Fete Day is fast approaching! Be sure to put it in your diary: Saturday 6th July. You can then enjoy a fun day with the family, or come along on your own, wander round the stalls, get a lovely cup of tea or coffee and relax – you will be very welcome!

Home Communion is available for those who are unable to get to church, so please do contact us if you or anyone you know would like to receive a visit.

At the time of writing, we do not know whether our latest advertisement for a vicar has resulted in any applicants. The patient waiting, trusting in Our Lord, is part of God’s plan for St. Chad’s Pattingham with Patshull. We do get tired and disappointed but never do we give up hope, or lose our vision of God’s work in Pattingham.

We hope and pray that when the time is right, we will have a clearer vision of how we must proceed.

Stay with us, join us in our prayer. Lord Thy Will Be Done!

God Bless,

Clive Pendrell and Dorothy Steel,
Churchwardens
