‘Churchwardens’ Chat’

We are now in an interregnum following the retirement of the Vicar and so the monthly letter for the Parish News is written by the Churchwardens

Slahamba ekukhanyeni kwenkos

A traditional South African Zulu song, rewritten as a Christian hymn in 1952 by AndRes Van
Tender We are marching in the light of God . . .

We are now in Lent and trying to take time for personal reflection as we revisit the way Our Lord Jesus Christ prepared for His crucifixion.

Taking some time to pray and think is an excellent way to help us understand which path God wants us to follow.

This has been particularly true for us, as we try again and advertise for a new vicar.

The words of the traditional Zulu song remind us that after the prayer and reflection we must find new energies and ‘march on’l For us in Pattingham this means that we are thankful for the help from visiting clergy but we must also work together to make sure we have a vibrant, interesting and fun-filled calendar of church events to share with our community.

We are very grateful to Alix, Keith and Milly for organising the first Young Responders Course deIIvered by St John’s Ambulance. The course was full and certificates for successful participants will be presented in Church. A second course may be planned; if you are aged 12 – 18 and missed out on a place, get in touch!

Look out for the St. Chad’s Church Easter Card when it is delivered later this month, because young artists fTom St. Chad’s First School have worked hard, entering a competition for a piece of their artwork to be featured on the card. Prizes will be awarded and presented in church.

As spring becomes a joyous abundance of energy and growth, the pace of our work increases; Alix and Keith are busy now with preparations for the summer Fete Day in July, so do please offer help to support this lovely family day.

Looking even further ahead, we were delighted to be contacted by Pattingham Club to discuss ideas for carol singing in December!

We are all working ‘in the light of God’, for our church and our community and we welcome your views, so if you have any ideas to share, please do get in touch.

Home Communion is available for those who are unable to get to church.

God Bless
