‘Churchwardens’ Chat’

We are now in an interregnum following the retirement of the Vicar and so the monthly letter for the Parish News is written by the Churchwardens

Welcome to Epiphany!

Epiphany is a time when we remember the journey of the Magi, bringing their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh!

A time when we can think about a spiritual ‘journey’, for ourselves, our families and for our church in Pattingham.

New Year can help us to plan afresh, and the PCC will be doing this later this month when we get together to reflect, pray and plan how best to continue God’s work in the parish. We shall be going through all the suggestions left in our suggestion box to help us decide which activities to try to focus upon.

The new year will also bring uncertainty but it is also a time to know that God remains a constant in our lives, through the gift of His Son Our Lord Jesus Christ.

We all deal with uncertainty in different ways but as we start 2023, coping with the demands of the weather and the stresses life can bring, let us remember to be kind to ourselves and to our neighbours.

If you are feeling a little low, why not try out ‘Who’s for Lunch?’ in the Village Hall on Wednesday January 25, or, of course, come to one of our services. We remember in prayer at everty service all who are ill or suffering in any way.

If you are unable to get to church and would like to receive Holy Communion at home do get in touch and we will do our best to arrange a visit.

We pray that 2023 will bring us a new vicar and we are meeting with the Archdeacon later this month to progress this.

Our Eco Church work continues and we look forward to better weather when the daffodil bulbs planted during the autumn by Year 4 children from St. Chad’s school will peep through the soil!

Take care and we wish you all a ‘Happy New Year’!

God Bless,

Clive Pendrell and Dorothy Steel

PS: Please leave your suggestions/thoughts in the box at the back of church – we need to hear from everyone, young and old, new to our church or long-standing members.

The box will be emptied on January 4, then we shall use your ideas for our 2023 planning!
