‘Churchwardens’ Chat’
We are now in an interregnum following the retirement of the Vicar and so the monthly letter for the Parish News is written by the Churchwardens
May 2023
Oh measureless might, ineffable love . . .
From Oh Worship the King (Sir Robert Grant 1833)
As Ascension Day (May 18th) approaches, we give thanks for the glorious ascension! God loves us all!
Before that, on May 6th, celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III with us – there is something for everyone!
Take part in celebrating with your village, your community and your church! Come into church and see the beautiful flower arrangements and join us for cake and prosecco at a service of thanksgiving, at 10 am the day after Coronation, Sunday May 7th. Then later, perhaps book a visit to Pattingham Club for Live Music and barbecue.

Make sure you, your children and grandchildren remember the weekend by being part of The Big Help Out on Monday May 8th – meet at 10am at the Village Hall. (There will be chocolate treats for the children!)
The Big Help Out also reminds us of our commitment to look after our village as part of the work for best kept village competition and this aligns with our Eco work to show our care for God’s creation. Pattingham Parish Council is working hard to continue to care for our village and all who live in our community so do try to join us to help out!
We look forward to our Rogation Walk to Patshull on May 14th, followed by our Rogation Sunday worship in St. Mary’s Church, built by James Gibbs in 1742 for Sir John Astley.
If you would like to help with the preparation and clean-up in St. Mary’s do get in touch with us for details.
More ‘Eco’ news: our Wild Area has now been seeded with wildflower and grass seed which we hope will provide a welcoming habitat for insects and wildlife.
We continue to offer Home Communion to anyone who cannot get out of the house so let us know if you would like a visit or if you know someone who would appreciate this contact.
Finally, we are grateful to all who continue to pray for a new vicar to fill our vacant post, and for your support in continuing our mission, God’s work in our community
God Bless
Clive Pendrell and Dorothy Steel
