‘Churchwardens’ Chat’

We are now in an interregnum following the retirement of the Vicar and so the monthly letter for the Parish News is written by the Churchwardens

Be still for the presence of the Lord, the Holy One is here . . .

Where did August go? With the weather being so mixed it has been a strange month!

We pray for all children, students and staff returning after the holidays and as we are now in September we look forward to Harvest and to our Scarecrow Festival!

We have a Brass Band Concert (Saturday 23rd September tickets £15 – Alan Smith 07757 688518) and the Barn Dance (Friday 22nd September tickets £8 Anna 07968 891927). A nother diary date: the ‘Shower Singers’ return on Wednesday September 6, from 6pm to 7pm in church. Do give it a try, all ages welcome, no cost, just come for an hour of singing fun!

Our organist Greg Lewin is retiring to Wales so we have to say ‘goodbye’. We thank him for all he has done for us and wish him well in his retirement. Greg, together with the choir, has been with us throughout the challenges of Covid, supported our Sunday
services and made our worship more meaningful. He has played at Christmas services, on Easter Day, at our All Souls’ and Remembrance services and at many weddings, baptisms and funerals.

It is sad to say goodbye to such a valued member of our church family but we wish him and his wife a peaceful and fulfilling time after they have recovered from the upheaval of the move to Wales. We are actively seeking a new organist and choir leader.

On Saturday 9th September our church is open to welcome visitors as part of the Ride and Stride tour of historic churches in South Staffordshire.

If you or anyone known to you would like to receive Home Communion please get in touch and we shall be pleased to arrange it.

Do join us at one of our services and please pray that our work will continue as we wait for a new vicar. If you have any concerns or questions about our search for a new vicar or about any of our events or any church matters do please get in touch.
