ChadNet - the eBulletin of St Chad's Church, Pattingham
        with Patshull

Welcome to this week’s edition of ChadNet – the eBulletin of St Chad’s Church, Pattingham with Patshull.

In this week’s ChadNet:

The restrictions in church have been lifted. Face coverings not only protect the wearer but also other people. It is up to each individual to decide whether or not they should wear a face covering in church. So that those who wish to ensure that they can maintain social distance feel comfortable social distancing must be maintained in the South Aisle.

Do not attend church if you have any covid symptoms or are meant to be isolating.

View from the Pews

Henry Ibberson

It’s finally arrived! Sunday 8th August 3.00pm to approx. 5.00pm in the Village Hall, the Tea Party to celebrate Maureen’s time with us and to thank her for all she has done for us over the past nearly 13 years of her ministry, wishing her health and happiness in her retirement, is definitely happening!

Mind you, it has been quite a challenge deciding how it should be organised in the light of so many diverging views as to how to interpret the guidelines emerging following the Government’s announcements of the Step 4 easing of Covid restrictions. The weather does not look promising to hold the event out of doors, so indoors it will be, but you may be assured that all will be safe and you are guaranteed a sumptuous afternoon tea.

With everything that has happened over the past weeks and months, and the fact that this party has had to be postponed twice already, we were determined that this time it should go ahead. However, mindful of all the latest news of the pandemic and that, despite all our hopes, we are still not out of the wood, we have erred on the side of caution. You will still be requested to take certain precautions when you come, though nothing you will not already be familiar with, so please do bring a face covering with you, unless, of course, you are exempt. We do want as many of you as possible to come to say our collective farewell to Maureen, but we also want you to feel comfortable in so doing. I know she is looking forward very much to seeing you all.

We have taken the view that we would rather be criticised for being too cautious than too relaxed, moreover this will be the first major gathering we will have held for over 18 months and I think one of the first for the Village Hall too. But it will be such a joy to be all together and be able to relax a bit in one another’s company for such an important occasion in the life of St Chads.

So, with sincere thanks to those of you who have been busily baking and to those who will be helping and ensuring our safety on the day, we look forward to seeing you on Sunday.

Best wishes as ever,

Henry Ibberson

Giving to the church

In the current circumstances there will inevitably be a reduction in the money which the church receives. However we will need to continue to pay our bills and we would ask that those who can afford to do so should continue to give regularly. Details of the various ways in which you can give can be found on the Giving page of the website.

We have a JustGiving page to enable people to make one off donations. It’s at www.justgiving.com/pattingham-church. You will be asked if you want to make a contribution on top of your donation. If you do it will go to JustGiving and not to charity. If you do not want to make such a contribution select “other”. If you are a taxpayer please consider gift aiding your donation.

If you are paying by cheque please make the cheque payable to “Pattingham PCC” or “Pattingham Parochial Church Council“.
