Snippets from the PCC meeting – 6th March 2018
The PCC met for a whole day in February to do some planning and to look at our priorities for the next year and beyond. As part of that we looked at how we would hope and expect the church (as a community, rather than a building) to grow and change over the next 5 years. At our meeting in March we agreed the Mission Action Plan for 2018, which identifies key objectives for 2018 and how we intend to achieve those. We want to share our plans with the whole community both so that everyone knows what is happening and can make informed comments but also so that those who feel able to help can offer to do so. Easter cards from the church are delivered to all homes in the parish and with those there will be a leaflet which explains our plans as well as giving details of events happening later in the year. Find a copy here.
The Annual Church Meeting will be held on Sunday 15th April at 7.30 pm in the church. At that meeting various reports on the activities and finances of the church and the PCC are given and the churchwardens and members of the PCC are elected. There will be some vacancies for new members to be elected this year. Only those who are communicant members of the church and are on the church electoral roll can be elected.
The Parochial Church Council’s principal purpose is “promoting in the parish the whole mission of the Church”. Its members are responsible for making decisions on all matters of general concern and importance to the parish including deciding on how the funds of the PCC are to be raised and spent. It should not be confused with the Parish Council, which is a local government body which deals with the civil parish.
If you want to find out more about what is involved in the work of the PCC please ask any of the existing members. The reports which will be presented to the Annual Church meeting will be available in advance of the meeting on the church website here.
